What’s the secret to get your YouTube video to go viral? You absolutely need a cat.
And that’s just one lesson we learned while filming our new video “Sh*t NY Social Media Experts Say.”
While our digital marketing agency is constantly hard at work building, optimizing and marketing websites we also like to have a little fun. So of course we had to jump on the “Sh*t That People Say” meme and make a version of our own.
“Oh Yeah, I got That Trending”
The one that started it all, the “Sh*t Girls Say” video featured a guy, dressed as a girl, saying all the “typical” things that girls say… (“Can you do me a favor and go in my purse…”). The minute-long video was uploaded on December 12, 2011, and now just a hair over two months later the quick comedy has already gotten close to 15 million views and has inspired hundreds of others to create similar, equally funny spoofs, such as “Sh*t Guys Say” or “Sh*t People from New York City Say.”
But it didn’t stop there. This meme caught on so well that it started popping up in into just about every subcategory of people there is, all to way to “Sh*t Asian Moms Say,” “Sh*t People Who Love Cats Say,” and even “Sh*t That People Who Watch ‘Sh*t People Say’ Videos Say”.
Can you really blame us for joining the party?
“Have You Heard About Fred? He’s a Total Ninja.”
The best part of the whole project, in our opinion, is that everyone in it is a Path employee. You’ll see Phil, Rachel, Christa, Ruben, Ruben’s cat (honorary employee), Mike S and Jen on set. And we can’t forget Fred, who went above and beyond in his part by making his debut in full Ninja garb.
It’s true that Fred, one of our Digital Strategists is a total Ninja (nin·ja: [nin-juh] A results-driven person working in digital media who is innovative in their work and excellent at what they do), but we like to think that we’re all ninjas here. Well, at least we are digital marketing Ninjas.
Are we Acting Ninjas too? We’ll have to wait and see if our video goes viral first. Help us out and watch Sh*t NY Social Media Experts Say.
