Google Launches Long-Awaited E-Bookstore; Mashable
Google has launched its long-awaited e-bookstore, Google E-books, bringing more than 3 million books — many of them free — to any device with a web browser.
The Takeaway: Why is this a big deal? Google’s E-bookstore allows independent booksellers with loyal customer bases to advertise and sell Google e-books via their own venues and take an (as of yet undisclosed) cut of the revenue, an opportunity previously denied to them.

New Facebook Profiles Now Available; Mashable
The new Facebook Profile Pages, which no longer features its famous tabs and now includes an introduction section towards the top of each page, was launched late Sunday afternoon.
The Takeaway: If this drastic change was made with individual profile pages, it’s safe to assume your clients’ fan pages are next. When this change will take place remains to be seen.

Google beats out Microsoft Bing for Yahoo Japan Search; Techie Insider
Yahoo Japan and Google have reached a deal where Google will be providing search results and advertising to them.
The Takeaway: Google’s monopoly over search seems to be ever-expanding as it now owns one of the most important markets on earth, Japan.

Apple Could Be Getting Good Terms On Verizon iPhone Deal By Freezing Out T-Mobile, Sprint; Silicon Valley Insider
Apple is getting the same favorable deal on its Verizon iPhone has it has with AT&T.
The Takeaway: Some analysts were worried that Apple’s move to Verizon would result in lower revenue per phone, but with a deal that includes freezing out other carriers, Apple is likely to be seeing nothing but green.

Jumo Launch Overloads Servers; Information Week
Jumo, a social network that connects charities with donors, was officially launched in beta on Tuesday, but the site founded by Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes didn’t open for business smoothly. The unexpectedly high number of people trying to access the site on its first day caused “load-related issues” that caused delays for people signing up for the first time or trying to log in.
The Takeaway: Such a large number of people signing up for Jumo in a short amount of time can only spell out success for what is slated to be the most successful social network surrounding nonprofits ever.
