Facebook Announces New Messaging System: “It’s Not E-mail”; Mashable
Facebook is handing out facebook.com e-mail addresses to all users. The new messaging system is composed of three parts: seamless messaging, cross-platform conversation history and the social inbox. The latter is an inbox for filtering the messages you want, organized by the people you care about. It’s designed to highlight conversations with your real friends and be spam free.
The Takeaway: Reevaluate your Facebook marketing strategies with this new messaging services. The potential that can come from email and Facebook integration will lead to countless new ways to reach audiences.
Path Launches to Save You From Facebook; Silicon Valley Insider
Path [no relation to Path Interactive], a new social networking startup launching today, is a new form of anti-Facebook. The big idea is that it lets you share photos (for now, more features probably coming someday) with a maximum of 50 people — your inner circle.
The Takeaway: Path’s idea is one worth pursuing: Facebook is now — by design — too public for many people to share some of the stuff they’d only want to share with family and close friends. Some of it may be too boring or mundane for the general public, but interesting to people you’re close with. Some of it may be too personal. So that’s what Path is for.

Google Gives Searches ‘Instant Previews’ of Result Pages; Wired
Google searchers can now quickly see a preview of web pages returned as a result of a query, without having to click through to see if the page is likely to give them the answer they are seeking.
The Takeaway: Although this preview function does not extent to Google ads, this new feature raises serious questions about analytics and tracking.

Today Is The Day Startup Tungle Begins To Make Money; Silicon Valley Insider
Tungle, the scheduling company that enables people to book meetings in under three minutes, released its first premium feature today, Personalization.  In other words, today is the day Tungle starts actively trying to monetize.
The Takeaway:
Because Tungle is useful for anyone, in particular busy executives who don’t have the resources to hire a personal assistant, or the time to schedule meetings, Tungle is the perfect tool to use to cut down on time when scheduling meetings. Personalization adds to Tungle’s potential.

Twitter + Ping = iTunes Biz; All Access
iTUNES’ new social network for music, PING, is teaming with TWITTER users to enhance music discoveries with their friends. Users can now track PING activity, listen to song previews and access links to purchase and download music from the iTUNES Store right in their Tweets on twitter.com.
The Takeaway: Integrating Ping across multiple networks enables Ping’s music sharing platform to become more invaluable, more universal, and more noticeable for users.
