New Facebook Home Page – News Feed Vs Live Feed

You may have noticed a change in your facebook home page as of yesterday.  Facebook is now offering two feeds, a “live feed” and a “news feed”.  You can select either one, but the live feed is the one that you are most familiar with as it shows all of your friends and fan page statuses, a move made earlier in the year to make it a Twitter like stream of statuses.

Facebook to merge between live status updates and highlights

The news feed will incorporate what was lost in that process and moved to the right hand sidebar.  It will now include it in the “News Feed”, which are highlights that facebook believes you might

be interested in, such as new photos, videos, comments your friends have made about other posts, etc.   As a result, items that were hard to find in the past since you had to scroll down, like birthdays and events, will now be moved up above the fold.  The News Feed will also include fan pages, new friends and rsvp to events,  that your  friends have made.

Hey Ruben. Count me amongst those who dislike the new FB look and feel. Something I learned just the other day is that those elements in the upper left menu (News Feed, Pages, Photos, etc.) can be clicked-and-dragged. Some suggest that if you want your FB to seem like it used to be, you just drag “Status Updates” to the top of the list and when you log in, you’ll first see your friends’ status updates. In fact, you can drag anything on that menu to the top. In other words, you still have some say in the look and feel of your FB homepage.

this change is garbage and MANY others feel the same way…too much info and less privacy. makes it hard to sort through want you want to look at…they had it right last time

Andrew good point, I wouldn’t doubt that type of feature coming out in the future, it seems that they change the look of the home page at least couple of times a year.
